Nut not about poker
I am pretty much always posting only poker related stuff but I just wanted to express my relief. I've had a public speaking engagement on the calendar for over six weeks--it involved speaking to over 500 industry professionals in a venue where they were paying significant funds for the privilege of hearing yours truly on something I have been working on for more than a year.
Believe it or not, I hate public speaking. Really.
I'd been dreading this date.
Today it went off. I didn't faint. I didn't suck. It actually went really well.
I am stoked and psyched and this means more to me than the biggest up day I ever had in poker.
That is all.

You should have said..."yeah, I almost had the deal closed then some donkey caught a runner runner nut royal on me." That would have thrown them for a twist
Nice work champ! I think I remember some stat where people rated public speaking as scarier than a shark attack.
Congratulations! It's a wonderful feeling. Wow 500 people! I took a computer security class back in 2001 and everyone in the class of only 17 had to make a presentation in front of the other 16. I thought this was a big number. LOL The instructor told the class on day one if anybody "gets sick" on presentation day and can't make it, they would fail the class. There were 5 "no-shows" on that day. LOL Anyway, I sweated for weeks worring about that day (I was twice the age of most the class including the instructor) and when that day came I thought about not showing for class but after I made my presentation I felt like I accomplished something big. Funny thing was once I started talking I didn't want to stop. )) Strange how how the older we get the more we learn about about ourselves.
i'd definitely put it as scarier than sharks...way to go!!!
Nice play, Sir.
I had about 25 snide responses ready, but I figured I'd just congratulate you instead... ;-)
A chip off the old stack...or something! I knew he'd be fine once he got rolling...This is the blogger's parental unit who has spent his whole professional life performing in front of audiences. Maybe the most fun I ever had on a stage was watching a group of CEO's (one of the suits would have cost me two weeks' pay) up in front of the Boston Pops trying to play toy instruments and looking like a diaper change was coming any second. (It helped the joke that they had each paid several G's for the chance to feel like assholes in front from 2000+ people.)
That's the way I feel when I sit down at a $4-$8 table at Foxwoods, which is why I leave the poker to my son, gladly. Well done, kid!
